  1. Avoids eye contact
  2. Has numerous inconsistencies in his/her story
  3. Loss of sense of time
  4. Lack of knowledge of whereabouts and/or does not know what city he/she is in
  5. Claims he or she is just visiting but is unable to clarify where he or she is staying
  6. Is not allowed or able to speak for themselves
  7. Is not in control of his/her own ID or passport
  8. Is not in control of his/her own money and has no financial records or bank accounts
  9. Has few or no personal possessions
  10. Shows signs of physical and/or sexual abuse, physical restraint, confinement or torture
  11. Appears malnourished
  12. Has no access to health care
  13. Is restricted from coming and going as he or she wishes
  14. Exhibits unusually fearful or anxious behavior after bringing up law enforcement
  15. Is fearful, anxious, depressed, submissive, tense, or nervous/paranoid
  16. High security measures exist in the work and/or living locations
  17. Was recruited through false promises concerning the nature and conditions of his/her work
  18. Owes a large debt and is unable to pay it off
  19. Is not allowed breaks or suffers under unusual restrictions at work
  20. Works excessively long or unusual hours
  21. Is unpaid, paid very little or paid only through tips
  22. Is in the commercial sex industry and has someone who manages him or her, such as a pimp
  23. Is under 18 and is providing sex acts for money or trade
